About

I am an Associate Professor with the National Institute for Applied Statistics Research Australia (NIASRA) at the University of Wollongong. My interests lie in pretty much everything relating to spatio-temporal statistics and the tools which enable it.

I completed my PhD in 2012 at the University of Sheffield, UK in the Department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering before carrying out brief post-docs at the University of Edinburgh with the School of Informatics and the University of Bristol with the Department of Maths and the School of Geographical Sciences. I joined NIASRA in 2014.

I have had the privilege to work with some great people on several exciting projects since I started my PhD, over 10 years ago now! I list the outcomes of these projects in the “Research Outputs” page. I also (try to) regularly update my blog with notes which could be of interest to others and also to me in the future on the “Blog” page. If you are new to this site and are interested in spatio-temporal modelling and/or computational statistics with R feel free to subscribe to the blog (by clicking on the folder icon on the left), I rarely update more than once a month so I will not be spamming your inbox! Finally I provide some links to other blogs and other statistics-related sites in the “Links” page.

If you’d like to follow me on Twitter, my handle is @andrewzm.
